The Tasmanian Bushland Garden is a special reserve and display garden featuring the native flora of south-east Tasmania.

It is located beside the Tasman Highway 4 km south of Buckland and approximately 50 km north-east of Hobart – about one hour’s drive. 

The gardens are open every day except Christmas Day, during daylight hours, and entry is free.

The reserve comprises some 20 ha of natural bushland, with walking tracks leading to a central hilltop lookout and a pleasant creek valley, and about 1.5 ha of landscaped display gardens.

Facilities include a picnic shelters, public toilets, picnic tables, electric barbecues, walking tracks, children’s playground area, and a sealed car park. A popular focal point is a landscaped quarry with a waterfall and pond. Many people drop in for lunch or a cuppa, and enjoy a walk around the gardens or through the bushland.

A series of nature-themed sculptures, including a dinosaur, thylacine and eagle, add to the interest and ambience around the quarry and gardens.

The gardens have been entirely developed by volunteers, and are owned, managed and maintained by the volunteer group for the benefit of all.

In recognition of the deep history and culture of this Island, we would like to acknowledge and pay our respects to all Tasmanian Aboriginal people; the traditional custodians of the Land upon which the gardens have been developed.
